A Design System

Working with the Palms and Stations Casinos, we created a responsive design system to make it easier for the clients to curate their content into a more elegant customer experience. In order to span the system across 18 various properties, including the newly rebranded (also by the team at AKQA) Palms, we created themes to allow for some flexibility in the design. This allowed a choice in type style (more elevated and luxury versus more accessible) and color based on brand. The design system was comprised of “modules” or building blocks of a site, which could be chosen ad hoc and customized in a new CMS to further fit whatever that property’s current needs are.

Icons to Match

I was also tasked with creating over 100 icons for the system. Icons were used both throughout global UI as well as on property pages for things like room amenities, restaurant details, and membership perks.
